LGBT Community Celebrates Pride Month, Calls for Inclusive Discussions on Recommendations

ITANAGAR, JUNE 25 : The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community of state on Sunday celebrated Pride month here at a city hotel with several programmers which was witness by several eminent personality of state and take part in celebration and interacted the members.

This was one of the biggest  programmes ever organised in state for the LGBT community which has been participated by members of the community in large numbers and interacted each other’s and wish for well being and safe and secure from stigmatization of society. The programmes also discussed various types of human right being guaranteed to its citizens by the constitution of India and various law of land for all types of human being living in the country irrespective of cast, creed, religion and culture.

The founder of Arunachal Pradesh queer station Sawang Wangchha inform of the gathering and celebration. This is the 1st of its kind gathering in state after the pride march was carried out at Roing in Dibang valley few years back. Time is changing and the change in mindset of the masses is required toward us. He said.

We are also a human being and we should also be given all the human rights and privilege guaranteed by constitution and law of land and we are equally human being and we want to live in peace, love and with due recognisation of all section of society. He said.

If state government is sending its recommendation as sought by central government or supreme court of India the state government should have a discussions by the aggrieved community and should not simply send its recommendation or comment after only meeting with GB, officers and officials of administration and department. He added.

Social activist and senior citizen Jarjum Ete, Oju Welfare mission  Chairperson Ratan Anya,  former Miss Arunachal Runner-up Radhe Mamung, Former Mr Arunachal (2019)-Tumken Sora, Artist Millo Sunka, members form law background and police department and social welfare activities and other address the occasion,

Several cultural activities which include songs and dances and performances were done by various people who came from other parts of state to witness the occasion in state capital. Poem recitation and other motivational speech were also given away by several people which include scholar and others to the LGBT community to maintain their livelihood properly without any fear and trust in rule of law and also appeal the community members to have patience in the supreme court of India where the case is under submission and day will come that all the members of community will have all the rights and privilege being guaranteed to other members of society.

The programme was supported by Durex “ The bird and bees talk” (TBBT), a purpose driven initiative supported by Reckitt and implemented by Plan India.

Capital Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom also witness the programme and participated in the function. 

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month (LGBT Pride Month) is celebrated annually in June to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots, and works to achieve equal justice and equal opportunity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) 

The Pride month is being celebrated to get more encouraging and greater acceptance and support for all including those who are or are perceived to be LGBT community to discuses for a peaceful and happy living.
