Longding:- In a significant operation, Assam Rifles and the Longding Police successfully dismantled a narco-terrorism module and apprehended three drug dealers on June 24, 2023. Acting on credible intelligence, the joint team established a mobile checkpost on the Kanubari-Longding road, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
The arrested individuals were found in possession of a staggering quantity of brown sugar, totaling 197.6 grams, divided into 16 packets. Notably, one of the apprehended drug dealers is the wife of an active cadre of the NSCN-KYA, further highlighting the nexus between drug trafficking and extremist organizations.
The drug dealers targeted by this operation were involved in the transshipment of brown sugar, posing a significant threat to the security and well-being of the Longding District community. With their apprehension, a major blow has been dealt to the illegal drug network and narco-terrorism module operating in the area.
Longding Police Station has initiated an FIR under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against the three drug dealers. Extensive investigations are currently underway to uncover additional information about the network and individuals involved in this illicit trade.
This successful operation represents a commendable collaboration between Assam Rifles and the Longding Police, demonstrating their commitment to combating narco-terrorism and ensuring the safety of the local population.
