On July 28, 2023, Assam Rifles organized a wreath-laying ceremony at Changlang District, Arunachal Pradesh, to honor the memory of Rifleman Prasidhan Singh. Rifleman Prasidhan Singh was a valiant member of a raid party assigned to confront Naga Militants in Manipur.
During a fateful encounter on July 28, 1994, the raid party encountered heavy automatic fire from a well-fortified bunker held by the militants. Undeterred by the danger, Rifleman Prasidhan Singh displayed extraordinary courage by crawling up a steep slope and bravely charging the bunker, neutralizing one of the militants within. Sadly, he made the ultimate sacrifice while displaying this remarkable act of bravery.
Recognizing his exceptional valor, Rifleman Prasidhan Singh was awarded the Shaurya Chakra (Posthumous) on August 15, 1995.
In the solemn ceremony, Assam Rifles honored the supreme sacrifice made by Rifleman Prasidhan Singh. The occasion also included an interaction with the braveheart’s wife, allowing the unit to extend their heartfelt gratitude and support to the family of the fallen hero.
