World TB day celebrated at Niba Hospital

Naharalgun, March 24: District Health Society( NTEP) Papum Pare District, Naharlagun observed  World Tuberculosis Day’2022 under the aegis of “ TB Harega Desh Jeetega”  campaign  at Seminar Hall of Niba Hospital, Papu Nallah Naharlagun today on Thursday.

Education Minister Taba Tedir graced the occasion  as chief guest and in his address he spoke on the need  to raise awareness about the TB in every corner  of the state to sensitize the people and de-stigmatization of TB patients. 

Speaking about Govt of India Jan Andolan for TB Mukht Bharat he called upon all doctors, nurses and all stakeholders to  work with missionary zeal and  make efforts towards widespread  awareness  campaigns in every corner  to defeat TB and  achieve India’s resolve to  end TB by 2025.  

 Appreciating the decreasing trend of TB patients in the district including ICR and Papum Pare rural, he said that it is because of sustained efforts of our doctors, nurses and all stakeholders and this  shows that we now have better access to TB patients and facilities  to provide free treatment at Govt and Private hospitals.  He also highlighted the GoAP effort  and strengthening of the health care scenario in the state  during the pandemic situation.    

DC Talo Potom IAS who graced the occasion as guest of honour  also lauded  the effort of all health workers in fighting  to root out the TB and  asked them to  continue their yeoman service for the better health care facilities to the people.  He also spoke about the need for synergy between Govt and Private hospitals and their   role in healthcare improvement  and coordination for a proper data sharing system  to show a real time picture of Health care system performance.

CMS TRIHMS Dr.Dukhum Raina  also spoke on  various aspects of TB and its prevention. Dr. M.Perme also  spoke.  Dr. P.D . Thongchi DTO gave a power presentation on World TB and District profile. 

Meanwhile, three TB Champions  also shared their experiences and said that building up awareness on  de-stigmatisation  of TB patients  and availability of free treatment in Govt hospitals and incentives are important  to create awareness among people  and encourage TB patients to have better health care facilities. 

To mark the day skit play on TB  and songs were presented by the Nursing students of Arunachal State Nursing College, Zion Nursing College Nirjuli, RKM Hospital, Itanagar and students of Social Works Department RGU, Doimukh. TB Free pledge was administered by Dr.Taying Kumar, Nodal Officer, DR-TB Site, TRIHMS Naharlagun. Earlier, in the morning mass media campaign was conducted by Piramal Swasthya an NGO from Banderdewa to Naharlagun and Chimpu to Naharlagun in two groups.
