The Arunachal Pradesh Monogamy Eligibility Bill, 2023 not introduced on first day-Congress MLA Ninong Ering

ITANAGAR, Sep 4: The Arunachal Pradesh Monogamy Eligibility Bill, 2023 which was first of its kind and first to be introduced in the history of the Arunachal Pradesh legislative assembly by private member by Congress MLA Ninong Ering which will be table on 6th September next in resolution format, The said Bill was schedule to be introduce on the first day of twelfth session of the seventh legislative assembly.

Speaking to media, the Congress MLA Ninong Ering informed that  the private member bill that he has proposed before the Assembly members this session “The Arunachal Pradesh Monogamy Eligibility Bill, 2023”, with aims to amend the existing electoral laws in the state and is set to be tabled on 6th of September on resolution form. The Bill, if implemented will restrict individuals with 2 or more wives to contest in any kind of elections in the state like parliament, legislative assembly and local body election. He said. . 

He said that it is important that people understand family values and the Bill aims to promote Monogamy to ensure a better future for the upcoming generation’s. He also hinted that it might take some time for people to understand but he hopes to receive fruitful results in the long run.

In parliamentary form of procedure the matter would be discussed and may be taken up for discussion. I am not against anyone but in future the elected leader should have a role model and I have tried and some may be against and some may speak against my move. Said Ering. 

It is expected that the Assam legislative assembly also take up for discussion in a bill form against polygamy in November-December as per information. He said.
