NSCN/GPRN (YA) executes former MLA Yumsen Matey for Anti-Naga Activities

Naharlagun, Dec 28: In an official press release issued by the Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP) NSCN/GPRN (YA) on 27/12/2023, the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagaland (NSCN/GPRN) disclosed the execution of Yumsen Matey, the former MLA of Khonsa West, Arunachal Pradesh

The capital punishment, carried out on 16/12/2023, was attributed to Matey’s active involvement in anti-NSCN activities, including the orchestration of anti-NSCN propagandas and slogans in Tirap District.

According to the statement, Matey was found guilty of conspiring against the NSCN/GPRN and actively engaging in activities deemed detrimental to the Naga national struggle. Despite warnings and efforts to avoid escalation, Matey persisted in his illegal activities, compelling the NSCN/GPRN to take decisive action.

The NSCN/GPRN clarified that the case is not linked to the upcoming Arunachal State assembly election, emphasizing its non-interference in Indian state politics. The execution was solely in response to Matey’s actions, reaffirming the government’s commitment to safeguarding the Naga community.

The press statement issued a stern warning to all accomplices of Matey, urging them to desist from anti-NSCN activities or face similar consequences. The NSCN/GPRN emphasized its unwavering stand against individuals with anti-Naga tendencies, signaling a resolute commitment to the interests of the Naga community.

Yumsen Matey, the former MLA of the Khonsa West assembly constituency, reportedly met his end near Raho village on the Indo-Myanmar border in Tirap district on December 16 afternoon.
