NCSM and APSCST join forces to elevate Science & Technology in Arunachal Pradesh

The National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) and the Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science & Technology (APSCST) have officially sealed their collaboration. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed on December 18, 2023, at the Arunachal Pradesh Science Centre in Itanagar, marking a historic occasion for the state.

Deputy Director General Shri Samarendra Kumar and Secretary Shri Subrata Mishra represented NCSM, while Secretary of Science & Technology Shri Repo Ronya, IAS, represented APSCST during the MOU signing. The primary objective of this partnership is the establishment of two Category-II Science Centres and Planetariums in Namsai and Dirang, respectively. Financed by the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, and the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh on a 90:10 basis, this initiative is poised to significantly boost Science & Technology in the state.

The event witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, including Hon’ble Minister of Science & Technology Shri Honchun Ngandam and Chairman of APSCST Shri Bamang Mangha. The commitment and support of the state government, led by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Pema Khandu and Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Shri Chowna Mein, underscore the dedication to promoting scientific pursuits in the region. This aligns with the national vision championed by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to achieve self-reliance in Science & Technology.
