Mutchu Mithi released special envelope cover of postal department

ITANAGAR, MARCH 3 : The Roing MLA Mutchu Mithi on Thursday has released a special envelope of the Postal department on Idu Mishmi textile here at head post office in presence of several top officers of state and officials of postal department.

Addressing the releasing ceremony, Mithi said that it is really a good initiative by the postal department in promoting the Idu Mishmi textile and handloom goods woven by the Idu Mishmi tribal women living in Dibang valley, lower Dibang valley and part of Lohit, East Siang and Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh

The special envelope prepared by the Postal department would go a long way in promoting the local tribal handloom and handicraft by which other tribes and communities will get moral boos and get their traditionally created items and get geographical Indication Tag on 27-08-2019 (GI) registration. He said.

Since the products have been recognized but need more marketing so that the idu mishmi tribe women get themselves engaged in producing the  handicraft and handloom items in a big way. The items and dress prepared are traditionally very important which are used and worn in daily use, celebration and rituals. 

The knowledge of weaving the handmade handloom items has been coming since generations and urge upon all to support such traditional items of all tribes and communities of state to boost up the local market and promote the local craftsman. 

Commissioner (Planning & Investment) Prashant Lokhande, Secretary (textile & Handicraft) Swapnil M Naik, Idu Mishmi cultural & Literary society President Gingko Linggi, Superintendent of Post Itanagar Subrata Das, IGGC faculty Dr. Aba Pulu, RIWATCH Executive Director Vijay Swami and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
