Mama Natung felicitated both Tashi Yanjom and Abraham Tagit Sorang for scaling Mt Everest height

ITANAGAR, Jun 17: Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs and WRD Mama Natung felicitated Tashi Yanjom and Abraham Tagit Sorang for scaling the highest peak in the world, Mt Everest at his office at Arunachal Pradesh civil secretariat.

 Acknowledging the achievement, Natung said that the Sports & Youth Affairs department will ensure all possible help to the achievers in their future endeavors. He also said that that department will provide monetary help to the achievers.

 Tashi Yongjam (37 years) is the first woman climber to scale Mount Everest in 2021. She is from West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh and an instructor at Dirang- based National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (NIMAS). She scaled the highest peak on May 11, 2021.  

 Meanwhile, Abraham Tagit Sorang is the second mountaineer from the state to scale the highest peak Mt. Everest after Tashi Yangjom this year.

 Sorang had joined National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (NIMAS), Dirang in the year 2013, when the institute first stepped in the state. He is also the tenth climber from the institute to scale the highest pinnacle in the world. He scaled Mt. Everest on May 31, 2021.

 Among others, Tapi Mra (2009), Tine Mena (2011), Anshu Jamsenpa (2011), Nima Lama and Kalden Paljor (2011), Tame Bagang (2013), Kishon Tekseng and Taka Tamut (2018) scaled the Mt. Everest from the state.

Briefing the media, Minister Sports lauded the effort put up by our youths in scaling the height of mount Everest and it is exemplary for upcoming youths. One can reach at any height taking the sky as a limit  and can reach a great height. Natung appealed to the youths of the state to  stay away from the clutch of drug addiction and work for the youth development activities including playing games and sport to remain fit and fine with a healthy body and sound mind.
