Joint Action Committee Urges Arunachal Pradesh Government to Rectify GDS Recruitment Rules

ITANAGAR, Oct 17: The Joint Action Committee for Postal Department Fiasco (JACPDF) has called on the Arunachal Pradesh state government to address the Recruitment Rule (RR) for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) in the state prior to the next recruitment advertisement. Members of JACPDF emphasized the need for corrections in the recruitment rules, particularly regarding the quota for Arunachal Pradesh candidates, ahead of the 5th selection notification for 2596 GDS posts.

Speaking at a press conference held at APC, JACPDF member Raj Pao stressed the importance of recommending the inclusion of domicile/proof of residence certificates as part of the candidate selection process for Arunachal Pradesh. He also suggested making knowledge of any of the local dialects of the twenty-six major tribes mandatory for candidates.

Japong Lowang, another member of JACPDF, submitted a reminder representation to the state government, encouraging them to resolve these issues in the best interest of the state’s unemployed youth. Lowang proposed adhering to the Eastern Bengal Frontier Regulation Act 1873 and the Chin Hills Act 1896.

Highlighting a concern, Pao mentioned that several appointed candidates from other states lacked Inner Line Permits (ILP), a violation of the entry rules into the state.

In addition, JACPDF called upon the Gaon Burahs and Burihs of the state to issue Resident Permit Certificates (RPC) exclusively to Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) candidates.

Regarding the protest by non-APST candidates at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, JACPDF clarified that their intent is not to harbor individual grudges or enmity toward outsiders applying for GDS posts. They are advocating for systemic changes to ensure justice for the unemployed youth of the state, emphasizing their commitment to helping the state government provide employment opportunities to the state’s youth.
