ITANAGAR, Apr 18 : The Deputy Commissioner Itanagar capital complex Talo Potom on Tuesday has requested the principal chief conservator of forest (PCCF) to stop the illegal earth cutting in the reserve forest (RF) area in and around capital region and other parts of state.
Speaking to media, DC Potom said that the illegal earth cutting in the RF area in and around capital complex is seen and on some occasion it is rampant which need to the stopped keeping in view the need of hours to stop deforestation and soil erosion and landslide. He said.
I have already written to PCCF in 2001 referring the letter written on December 2nd 2021 vide letter no- DC/ICC/LAND-01 on the same matter but no action has been initiates as per information. It is necessary that the forest reserve in and around capital complex protect the landslide and soil erosion and flash flood and also add to he beauty of the state capital. He said.
Due to rampant earth cutting we have to face huge loss of life and property and highest damaged caused to due illegal earth cutting in capital complex where death and loss of properly is highest in the capital which can only be stopped if rampant earth cutting is stopped. He said.
Earth cutting for specific purpose and developmental matter is permissible but subject to obtaining of no objection certificate (NOC) from administration and after depositing of some deposit which can be refunded in case the earth cutting is not detrimental of loss in subsequent years. He said.
The rampant earth cutting being carried out by some individuals specially in areas falling under reserve forest and wild life sanctuary. Since illegal earth cutting are being carried out in Durpong reserve forest and wild life sanctuary. I have requested the PCCF through s letter today to take necessary action to control illegal earth cutting through concern forest officers, DFO and Deputy Chief wild life warden. Said DC Potom.
He inform that when I was ADM and has carried several eviction drive and also stopped several illegal earth cutting under my jurisdiction special in capital project area. The Durpong reserved forest area Itanagar wild life sanctuary is of 440 sqkmtrs, Itanagar wild life sanctuary is of around 140 sqkmtrs and a total of around 600 sqkmtrs of forest area. For Itanagar it is around 11 sqkmtrs and Naharlagun is of 2 sqkmtrs and 16 sqkmtrs for villages. He said.
I have arrested several people and even lodge FIR but how long it will continue until the general public have to think for it keeping in view our future global warming, the global warming is alarming across the globe and every leaders of country across the globe is working to stop global warming so its earnest request to each and every civilized and intelligent citizens of capital complex not to go for illegal earth cutting for our own safety and to stop pollution and global warming.
