CoSAAP demanded scraping of new pension schemes and reinstallation of old pension scheme of government employees

ITANAGAR, AUGUST 21 : The Confederation of Service Association of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) on Sunday has demanded the state government for scrapping the National Pension System (NPS) and restoration of the Old Pension System (OPS) for the greater interest of its employees.

Addressing the media here in APC, COSAAP president Likha Tech said that NPS does not guarantee social and economic security to the government employees.

Employees under NPS receive very limited benefits compared to the older General Provident Fund (GPF) scheme, said Tech. Whereas pension is the social security provided by the government to the employees, he added.

Terming the NPS as kind of share market investment of the employee’s contribution, wherein the fate of the employees and their family depend on the market growth, Tech said, recently state of Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, Jarkhand and few others have decided to scrap the NPS, therefore State government must also examine the pros & cons of NPS and restore the OPS for the larger interest of the state government’s employees and it would be a welfare for its family members.

Stating as of now the state government employees required grant of revised allowance as admissible and recommended in the 7th Central Pay Commission, such as house rent allowance, transport, non practicing allowance for doctors, children education and allowance for all categories of nurses etc.

COSAAP further demands for creation of new posts against the newly created administrative units and more promotional post to resolve stagnation in the career progressive of employees and budget provision for repairing of government quarters to avoid accommodation problems of employees.

In the meantime, supporting the government’s decision for creation of a separate IAS Cadre for Arunachal Pradesh, COSAAP said, it should ensure that the status and responsibilities presently prevailing in the government level offices, attached offices and subordinate offices are not distorted to the disadvantage of all concerned.
