Congress carryout candle march in city demanding justice for Rahul Gandhi

ITANAGAR, APRIL 1 : The Congress party in state under the leadership of state President and former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on Saturday evening carried out a candle march in the main thoroughfare in the city in solidarity of its party national leader Rahul Gandhi and demanded justice.

The rally began from Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan and culminated in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Bank Tinali covering a distance of around 3.5 Kilometers. Hundreds of party leaders and workers including form the Arunachal Pradesh youth congress (APYC), Arunachal Pradesh mahila committee (APMC), Arunachal Pradesh congress committee (APCC) hit the street with slogans again the ruling government and prime minister for directly or indirectly patronizing activities against their leader Rahul Gandhi.

Speaking to media, the APCC President Nabam Tuki said that the Congress has carried out the candle march to show solidarity with its leader Rahul Gandhi who was convicted in a 2019 defamation case over his alleged “Modi surname” remark.

“This is not a legal issue; it is also a serious political issue, which is related to the future of our democracy”. “Everyone in the country which includes the media and others are not safe as the vindictive attitude of the ruling government is in question by everyone”. Said Tuki who is also MLA from 15 Sagalee assembly constituency.

It seems that the intimidation and political harassment is being made to our leader for raising the issue of Adani and another who has been looting the country’s money of the country and fled away,” The APCC President said.

Within a day after the court verdict our leader Rahul Gandhi was disqualified and subsequently the house committee has issued vacation notice to for vacating of the government accommodation which he has been availing for several years and doing so is a vindictive action and we condemn is also a serious threat and a healthy sign of the democratic value. He said.
