CM Pema Khandu advocates peaceful coexistence during Upper Siang tour

TUTING, January 22— Chief Minister Pema Khandu, currently on a 2-day tour of Upper Siang district, addressed a public meeting in Tuting today. He appealed to the diverse resident communities—Memba, Khamba, Adi, Mishmi, and Tangam—to coexist peacefully, emphasizing their unique cultural amalgamation as the district’s hallmark.

Highlighting the central government’s ‘Vibrant Village’ program, Khandu announced its implementation in the Tuting area, focusing on comprehensive development, livelihood generation, and infrastructure enhancement. Under this initiative, Arunachal Pradesh has secured significant road development, with 1022 kms sanctioned by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

Commending Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for border villages, Khandu praised the transformation of Gelling, formerly the last village, into the ‘first village’ on the Indian side. He credited the improved connectivity across roads, air, rail, and digital platforms to the efforts of both central and state governments in the past 7-8 years.

Looking ahead, Khandu unveiled plans for a bottom-to-top planning process, involving ground-level stakeholders for effective and holistic development. He assured that this approach, a departure from the previous top-to-bottom model, would optimize government resources without wastage.

Expressing gratitude to local legislator and Minister of Health Alo Libang for district development, Khandu inaugurated a bridge over Nyigong River at Tuting. Anticipating increased tourism activities post the completion of the Yingkiong-Tuting road, he affirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating growth.

The Chief Minister, accompanied by MP Tapir Gao, Libang, and MLAs Kaling Moyong, and Kento Jini, continued his tour in Yingkiong. Several developmental projects, including road upgradation, new healthcare and administrative facilities, and micro hydel stations, were inaugurated, promising a positive trajectory for the district’s development.
