Changlang battalion of Assam Rifles, operating under IGAR(N)/ Spear Corps, organized a successful Inter-Village Volleyball Championship in Khimyong Village, Arunachal Pradesh. Held from November 25 to December 5, 2023, the championship brought together 21 teams from villages surrounding Changlang district for a total of 52 matches.
The tournament, featuring league group stages, playoffs, and a thrilling final, aimed at fostering unity and encouraging youth participation. In the semi-finals, Changra and Phungsa emerged victorious, leading to a gripping final on December 5, 2023. Changra secured the championship title with a 3-0 victory over Phungsa.
Beyond the competition, the event recognized talent, with Shri Sampong Harap of Samlong Village awarded the title of Best Player of the Tournament. The initiative also identified potential sports enthusiasts, encouraging them to consider joining Assam Rifles and other Security Forces.
The championship drew active participation from approximately 150 youths in Khimyong Circle villages and Changlang district. The villagers expressed sincere gratitude to Assam Rifles for organizing the event, highlighting its positive impact on community engagement and the strengthened relationship between Assam Rifles and the local community.
