Arunachal Senior Taekwondo Team Shines at National Championships with 5 Gold and 4 Bronze Medals

Naharlagun, Sep 11: The Arunachal Senior Taekwondo Team showcased their remarkable skills at the 39th National Senior Kyorugi & 12th National Senior Poomsae Taekwondo Championship held from 9th to 11th September 2023. The event, hosted at the Karambir Nabin Chandra Bordoloi A.C. Indoor Stadium in Sarusajai Sports Complex, Sarusajai, Guwahati, Assam, witnessed a stellar performance from the Arunachal contingent.

In an impressive display of talent and dedication, the team secured a total of 5 Gold and 4 Bronze Medals across various categories. 

Securing a remarkable collection of medals, the celebrated victories by Ms. Rikpy Nyodu secured Gold in the Senior Female Individual Poomsae U-30 category, Mr. Miching Taja clinched Gold in the Senior Male Individual Poomsae U-30 category, Ms. Radha Bangsia and Mr. Ontey Khambai teamed up to win Gold in the Senior Mixed Pair Poomsae U-30 category, Ms. Khinsan Wangsu, Ms. Achum Sangha, and Ms. Lumter Uli secured Gold in the Senior Female Group Poomsae U-30 category, Gangpgung Gangsa impressed with Gold in the Senior Male Individual Poomsae U-40 category.

Additionally, the team earned three Bronze Medals, Mr. Miching Taja, Mr. Ontey Khambai, and Mr. Kame Bayang in the Senior Male Group Poomsae U-30 category, Gangphung Gangsa, Mari Karbak, and Likha Govind in the Senior Male Group Poomsae U-40 category and Ms. Muskan Manyu showcased her prowess with Bronze in the Senior Female Kyorugi U-46KG category.

This incredible achievement was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the athletes and the leadership of key figures in the Arunachal Taekwondo Association (ATA). 

The team was guided by Likha Robin (General Secretary, ATA), Tarak Dotang (Technical Director, ATA), Mr. Borik Pamo (Referee Chairman, ATA), Suraj Ali, Kaying Darang (Kyorugi Coach), Jina Yangfo (Kyorugi Manager ), Ranjit Biswakarma, Yabi Pudu (Poomsae Coach), and Miss Christine Borang (Poomsae Manager), under the visionary leadership of Kipa Kaha, President, ATA, and Likha Robin, General Secretary, ATA.

Notably, Mr. Tadar Kuku and Ms. Muskan Manyu added to the team’s success by winning Bronze Medals in the U-63 Kg and U-49 KG categories, respectively, in Kyurogi. The Kyurogi coach team was led by Suraj Ali and Kayang Darang, with Cristine Borang as the manager. For Poomsae, Mr. Ranjit Biswakarma and Yabi Pudu served as coaches, with Jina Yangfo as Kyorugi manager the team.

Arunachal Pradesh takes pride in its Taekwondo athletes who have demonstrated excellence and dedication on the national stage, bringing honor to the state and the sport. Congratulations to the entire Arunachal Senior Taekwondo Team for their outstanding performance.
