All inter-district police check gates to be closed in Arunachal: DGP (I/C) Chukhu Apa

Manoj Singh || ITANAGAR, JUNE 10 : All the inter-district police check gates/post will be closed and will not function anymore and all the personnel engaged are asked to report to respective police stations for further detail to duty. Said DGP Incharge Chukhu Apa.

The DGP in charge of the state police Chukhu Apa has informed that decision to lift inter-district check gates and within the district, police pickets have been done for the convenience of the people of the state.

Briefing media here on Friday at PHQ Apa however clarified that in case there is the input of movement of anti-social elements police will reactivate the check gates.

These check gates and check posts were established for specific time and purpose. During the specific information related to drug, insurgency, movement of criminals etc is reported in a particular area/locality in order to check/stop such cases the check gates and check post were established. The DGP Incharge said.

Apa has also directed all the respective OC, I/C of respective police stations to make an entry in GD about the operationalisation of the respective check gates and check post in their areas and submit the compliance report to the PHQ immediately. He said.  

He shared that more than 20 such check gates are being removed all over Arunachal Pradesh.

On the issue of alleged corrupt practices in the inter-state and inter-district check gates, the DGP in charge said corruption at check gates will not be tolerated.

“If the people with evidence come forward, strong action will be taken against such police officials,” he said. Further, Apa said that the state police are committed to ensuring the safety and security of the people of Arunachal Pradesh.

“State police have good coordination with civil administration and the people of the state. Our motto and that of civil administration is the same which is to serve the people,” he added.
