Tawang Church issue: ACF rejected three member high power committee report

ITANAGAR, Jun 10 : The Arunachal Christian Forum (ACF) on Friday rejected the three member’s committee report on the Tawang church issues and adhered to their proposed statewide democratic movement on 18 June next.

Addressing the media person here at APC, president ACF Toko Teki stated that nowhere in the report mentioned about the regularization of the church in the district of Tawang.

As in the recommendation report it is mentioned that the Supreme Court’s order should be strictly compliance, while constructing any church or temple but in the cases of Tawang church issues, it is not located in public places or Children Park and not encroached upn the drainage and land of school and hospital.

“The report itself contradicts the Supreme Court’s order, as the location of the church has not disturb/hampered the public utility,” said Teki and the case is actually for regularisation and not a new case as land allotment process was in the DC Office for several years and only formalities life submission of land revenue and obtaining of Land allotment passbook was remained. He said.

Stating ACF has thoroughly examined the recommendation of the three members committee which they have found unacceptable, ACF demands the state government to find alternative solutions to resolve the issues.

The committee has deliberately bypassed the legal and historical facts and figures of the Tawang church and has not submitted the details of the facts with a sketch map and other details. Claimed ACF.

However, the ACF welcomed that the committee had  recommended for withdrawal of the criminal case against the pastor Joseph Singhi who was arrested by Tawang police on 6 October 2020.

We are asking nothing but the construction of the church should not be objected to as there was a church for several years and the church committee when started for a permanent structure was stopped by the district administration and the pastor was arrested. And hope that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister who belongs to the same consistency may intervene and take a positive step for solution and resolution for the issue. Teki said.

Vice President Norbu Sonam, General Secretary Tarh Miri, IPR Secretary Taring Mama also addressed the media and shared their view and suggestion and sought resolution of the Tawang church for a respectable solution.
