Air force helicopter could not fly due to inclined weather to join rescue operation in search overseer Tapi Mra

ITANAGAR, AUGUST 30  : The Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter’s search operation to locate mountaineer to scale Mount Everest Tapi Mra who went  missing for several days has been put on halt due to inclement weather conditions and air force helicopter could not fly here on Tuesday.

Requisition of helicopters for search operation has been already done and ready to fly for search operation, IAF would begin the same as and when weather gets cleared, said Sports and Youths affair  & WRD Minister Mama Natung.

Department of sports and youths affairs and deputy commissioner (DC) East Kameng is in constant touch and also has been directed to leave no stone unturned to locate the mountaineer and his associate, he added.

We have a meeting today in this regard and are in constant touch with all stakeholders including locals who are experts in mountaineering  and such activities. He said. 

Appealing to all the local people of East Kameng to hold a helping hand in rescue of Mra, Natung said especially Sawa circle’s local people who are acquainted with the dense forest snow – capped mountain of Kyarisatam would be deputed for rescue operation, said Natung.

In the meantime, led by rescue team Everester Tagit Sorang and Tame Bagang along with others is already on mission to rescue the former, informed Natung.

Adventure Promotion Officer, Directorate of Youth Affairs,  Tapi Mra was on an official expedition who went untraceable for several days along with his associate Puroik boy.

The 37 years old Tapi Mra is the first Arunachalee to conquer Mount Everest climbed Mount Everest on May 21, 2009 is a popular figure in climbing and scaling of mountain and in mountaineering. 

The East Kameng Deputy Commissioner Pravimal Abhishek Polumatla on Monday has convened a meeting with members of the East Kameng Social Welfare & Cultural Organisation, gaon burahs and Everester Tame Bagang, and prepared a search and rescue operation plan. 

As per report Everesters Tame Bagang and Tagit Sorang and others including some active officers of sports and Youth affairs department are leading the search and rescue team, along with 15 porters.

Another team of 4 corps based at Tezpur may also lead another rescue team to locate Everester Tapi Mara. 

It is learnt Mra had been attempting to climb Khyarii Satam for the last several years and after scaling the mountain it may be a place of tourist importance and also for the overseers and mountaineers who wanted to scale mountains may prefer those routes.
