ITANAGAR, SEPT 11; The All Arunachal Pradesh Workers Union (AAPWU) has today demanded immediate fixation of minimum wage for skilled and unskilled workers of unorganized sectors of state as per minimum wage Act for the benefit of the common citizens.
Addressing the press person here at Arunachal Press club (APC) the AAPWU President and former APB&OCWWB Chairman Jalley Sonam said that there has been a vast disparity in the wage scale of labourers organized and unorganized sector in state, and it is badly affecting the work culture and the skilled and unskilled workers from the unorganized sector. He said.
The fixing of minimum wage is urgently required for skilled and unskilled labourers as it is affecting the normal workers and labourers in carrying out their daily wage. Though the minimum wage has been changed as per Minimum Wage Act but in state the unorganized sector workers have changed their rate of daily wage abruptly and charge more than the limit and it is doubled in some places which is not at all acceptable by the masses and also a problem for the fellow workers. Sonam said.
The daily wage labourers from the unorganized sector charge as per time and work which is not at all appreciated by the general public. ‘
The minimum wage should also be fixed in comparison to the minimum wage of the nearby state and other states of the region and need immediate review so that it remains as a fixed daily wage across the state for skilled and unskilled category and also on the basis of zone I and Zone II. Sonam said.
He also emphasizes the registration of skilled and unskilled labourers across the state and also the registration should be with a person having a labour license. The labourers standing in the open market in the capital complex is also a matter of concern and said it is uncalled for and the capital administration and capitol police need to take action against those who do not follow any rule and regulation. They need to be checked of their antecedent and identity so that in any case there is no problem from the workers side. Sonam said adding that a memorandum is being submitted to the Chief Secretary and other stakeholders for immediate fixation of minimum wage for unorganized skilled and unskilled workers.
Sonam further thanks the state government led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu for approving and decentralizing of issue of labour licensing to all the district labour and employment officers
