7 Army personnel stuck in avalanche in Kameng sector of Arunachal, rescue operations on

ITANAGAR, FEB 7 :  The Indian Army in support of local police from Dirang and locals people has launched a massive search and rescue operation to rescue one of its patrol party which has been reportedly hit by an avalanche between Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang and West Kameng districts on Sunday evening. As per information from Dirang Police Seven Indian Army jawans of JAK Rifle regiment, part of a patrol, are reported to have been struck by an avalanche in the high altitude area of Kameng Sector in Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday at around 9 AM. Search and rescue operations are currently underway. Said SP Tawang incharge.

The local police are also coordinating with the army so as to help them in the rescue operation, the exact location of the incident is yet to be known. SP added.

Situation is under watch. SP further said.

The Defence PRO based at Tezpur Lt Col Harsh Wardhan Pande said that specialized teams have also been airlifted to the area to assist in rescue operations.
