7 Army personnel stuck in avalanche in Kameng sector have died: confirm SP Tawang

Itanagar: All the  seven soldiers of the patrol party of J&K regiment (Rifle) trapped in an avalanche in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang district were found dead on Tuesday afternoon, informed Tawang SP Incharge Bharat Reddy.

Till afternoon the Indian Army along with the local police and locals has identified the location and till 2 PM has reportedly managed to recover two bodies and search and rescue operation has been continued. Said SP.

As per information the avalanche hit the patrol party’s army personnel on February 06 while they were on a regular patrol duty in the border area under Jung police station area of Tawang district. SP said.

Rescue operation is mostly done by the Indian army and hope everything materialized and body retrieved before evening or next morning. SP added.

Several parts of the state have been witnessing inclement weather and heavy snowfall for the last one week and Few areas have received high snowfall and break the record of the last ten years.

However, till late evening reportedly the body of all the shoulders has been retrieved and all formalities are being done.
