3 accused from Bihar conspired & killed Shibu George for money: State Police

NAHARLAGUN, Apr 07: The Arunachal Pradesh Police on Thursday said the three persons, who have been arrested on charges of killing the DGP staff officer (SO) Shibu George, confessed that they had killed the cop for money.

The police in an official statement today said the conspiracy to murder Shibu George was hatched by three persons. They made elaborate preparations for committing the crime and fleeing away.

They purchased two knives used for cutting tyres from Nirjuli. They also bought fresh clothes to be changed after committing the crime and made plans to flee the State, the police statement on Thursday said.

The three accused have been identified as Md Saddam Hussain, 24, son of Md Alluddin Arazi, a resident of Jagdispur under Sahebganj PS in Bihar’s Muzaffar district; Ramzan Alam, 24, son of Md. Shabuddin, a resident of Gochi village under Kesariya PS in Bihar’s East Champaran district and Md Ashik Hussain, 22, son of Sheik Ali Hassan, a resident of Gochi village under Kesariya PS in Bihar’s East Champaran district.

The two accused Ramzan and Asif were arrested on 6th April 2022 while Hussain was arrested on 1st of April 2022.

Sub-Inspector Shibu George was found lying in his quarter located at SRPL Colony with blood all over the room on March 31, 2022. A case of homicide was registered vide Chimpu Police Station and a Special Investigation Team comprising Deputy Superintendent of Police Kamdam Sikom, Lance Inspector Melia Mibang, Inspector Takhe Tasso, Sub-Inspectors SS Jha, AK Jha and Kentar Tacha was constituted under the direct supervision of the Capital SP.

The team was assisted by Inspectors Padi Nyikang and Techi Vijay from the SIT, Police Headquarters (PHQ).

A fingerprint team from the State Fingerprint Bureau during its investigation seized one Oaken Glow Whiskey bottle, blood scrapings from different parts of the room, shirt worn by the deceased from the place of occurrence, the police statement said.

One blood-stained knife used for cutting tyres was found from the place of occurrence and the same was also seized connection with the case.

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) started the investigation in different directions by taking statements of the complainant and neighbours and activating sources to profile suspects with the technical support from PHQ Itanagar.

The name of Md Saddam Hussain came up during investigation as the prime suspect.

Immediately, a team comprising Deputy Superintendent of Police Kamdam Sikom, Inspectors AK Pandey and Padi Nikang with the assistance of Assam Police arrested Hussain from Lakhimpur on April 1, 2022.

Police claimed, on being interrogated, Hussain confessed that he along with two other persons – Ramzan Alam and Md Ashik Hussain – killed the victim on the night of March 31, 2022 in order to rob money from him.

A team comprising Inspectors AK Pandey and Techi Vijay was sent to Muzzaffarpur in Bihar and sources were engaged in that State to trace out the two other accused.

With the assistance of Bihar Police, the houses of the accused situated at Gonchi village under East Champaran in Bihar were also raided but the accused were not found as the accused fled to Kolkata in West Bengal, the police statement said.

Subsequently, by activating the sources in Kolkata and with the assistance of West Bengal Police, the accused, Ramzan and Asif, were arrested on April 6, 2022 from Naihati Bus Stand in North 24 Pargana district of West Bengal while trying to again flee the State, the police statement added.
