105 players took part in the state level open fide rating chess tournament

ITANAGAR, It is a historic event that in spite of Covid pandemic and other hurdles 105 players form 17 district are taking part in the 5th state level open fide  rating chess tournament-2021 which has been inaugurated by Education and cultural affairs Minister and Arunachal Olympic association President Taba Tedir on Sunday.

Inaugurating the event Tedir lauded the organizer for organizing the event in a massive way and appealed to them to take up the issue of the organisation with the sports department.  The state government may allow play chess in every two schools as per request of the organisation but the department is ready to give approval for all the schools of state subject to providing coaches, trainers and sporting staffs to train guide and other. Terming chess as a mind and game of the brain , Tedir said chess will enhance the knowledge and power of the brain and mental value among the upcoming players and youths of the state. 

There are 62 sports organisations in the state and we are shortlisting few and those organisations will be given preference and the players of the said sporting organisation will have top broom and train their players in a better way so as to be able to take part in the Olympic games. He said. 

Referring to the state government’s commitment for appointment of persons in sports quota, Tedir said that we need to ensure that no other person takes undue advantage of the sports quota as witnessed in recent paste in the media. 

He appeals to the players who are serving in various departments and also those who have won laurels for the state to pay back to society and space a little time and extend support to the upcoming players in various disciplines and help the games and sports in a new height and if so the state will become a powerhouse in sports. Tedir added.

AAPSU Vice President Mege Taku attended the function as guest of honour and lauded the effort of the AAPCA team for successfully organizing the last four championship and also for having more than hundred players in the tournament this year. He asked the state government for more attention in the education sector and demanded immediate functioning of the state university at Pasighat in East Siang district. 

All Indian Chess Federation (AICF) Hony Secretary Bharat Singh Chauhan in his address as special guest also addressed the occasion and assured to provide all support for promotion of chess in state. He urged upon the state government to introduce chess in schools of state and assured to support trainers in this regard.

AAPCA President Niapung Konia, Secretary Nabam Chada, Vice president Dr Taga Nalo also address the function.

The tournament which was declared open today at Siddhartha hall will continue till November 11 and is organized by All Arunachal Pradesh Chess Association (AAPCA).
