We will continue to restrict the unnecessary movement of the general public : SDPO Dekio Gumja

NAHARLAGUN, JULY 29 ; SDPO Dekio Gumja on Friday said that the police is restricting the movement of individuals and public within the ICR who are not any important and is only permitting those in medical emergency cases.

There is more traffic in comparison to Itanagar because of the presence of several hospitals, medical college and nursing homes and main road connecting Yupia district headquarter, Nirjuli and Banderdewa area. Following the increase in Covid positive cases in ICR, the district administration on July 22 extended curfew from 3.00pm to 5.00am daily from last Sunday till further order. SDPO said.

Gumja said that the public are much cooperative during the extended Curfew and unnecessary movement of vehicular traffic has been reduced and it is necessary so that the chin link of infection may be reduced. He said. The police department is working as per the order issued by district administration, and we hope the public will cooperate and support the police on duty who are for the service of public. he said.

“The police force on duty is not for creating harassment against any individuals but to restrict their movement in the greater interest and as a safety measure. At the same time the traffic checking and violators against the Covid behaviors are also done”. He said.

“We are allowing medical emergencies to visit hospitals, there is relaxation for people coming from far flung districts and we also see that people’s need of emergency services are not obstructed,” he said, adding that, however, people moving for unnecessary reasons are strictly dealt with.

He appealed to the public to follow the order issued by the district administration and also follow Covid appropriate behavior.

“Besides, the police department is also ensuring social distancing, wearing of masks, and closure of shops at times along with the Motor Vehicle checking,” he further said.
