Tree Plantation Drive Marks 74th Van Mahotsava Celebration in Yinkiong

Yinkiong, July 8: The 74th Van Mahotsava was celebrated in Upper Siang on July 7, 2023, along with the rest of the country. In observance of Van Mahotsav, the Minister of Health and Family from the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, along with Deputy Commissioner Hage Lailang and Head of Departments, participated in a tree plantation event organized by the Department of Forest and Environment in Yingkiong, near the welcome gate of Simong village.

Van Mahotsava was also observed in Mariyang Sub-Division by the All Arunachal Pradesh Labour Union (AAPLU) in coordination with the Mariyang administration, NGOs, and various departments of the Mariyang-Mopom Area. The President of AAPLU, D. Libang, stated that the tree plantation campaign began on July 4, 2023, with the aim of raising awareness about environmental conservation and the significance of forests for the people living in forest-covered areas. The campaign concluded on July 7, 2023, with the planting of approximately 1,100 saplings donated by the Department of Forest and Environment and well-wishers at various locations, including Geying, Mopom, Dalbing, Mariyang, Damroh, and GHSS Mariyang premises.

The mass plantation drive on July 7, 2023, saw the participation of Akan Regon (ADC Mariyang), Joyti Borang (CO Mopom), Bojing Bitin (ZPM Mariyang Block), Apak Megu (Principal GHSS Mariyang), government officials, NGOs, students, and AAPLU members.
