The under construction arch bridge on river Pachin connecting Bourn (TAH) with Naharlagun and Lekhi (NH-415) will made operational by October

Manoj Singh || NAHARLAGUN, AUGUST 23 : The upcoming and under construction and a beautiful Arch bridge on river Pachin near Borum connecting railway station on Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH) on one end and Helipad in Naharlagun  on other end will be made operational by October and this is like a target set by the state PWD after it was supposed to be operationalised by August but delayed due to inclined weather. 

It is not  a matter of concern that design and other issues of the bridge and other get on changing from time to time in previous years but everyone wants that a beautiful bridge would come up and the commuters who are facing lots of inconvenience and untold suffering on NH-415 in traffic jam in Naharlagun township wasting lots of precious time can be reduced and suffering are minimized. 

Earlier few years back there was no problem but when the National Highway-415 package-B has been announced and this road construction activities began which may play a vital role to reduce the traffic flow of NH-415 and the commuters who have to go to Railway station, Yupia and Borum can avail the road vice versa and the burden of NH-415 is reduced and the work on four lane can be taken up smoothly without any hindrance and obstruction of massive traffic jam which every day is being witnessed. At present there are huge rush and the traffic on NH-415 in city is crawl and everyone is exhausted due to pathetic condition of the national highway-415.

The PWD senior officers led by Chief Engineer Tayer Talo, SE S C Choutang, Naharlagun PWD Division Executive Engineer Tana Nekam Tara and other officers visited and inspected the upcoming Arch bridge over river Pachin to ascertain the work progress and quality of work undertaken.  

Chief Engineer Talo inform that the construction work of the double lane arch bridge on Pachin river connecting NH-415 near Helipad in Naharlagun and TAH near Borum is in progress and several machinery and manpower are being deployed and work is in progress and at present the work progress is satisfactory. 

Due to bad weather and heavy downpour the progress of the work has been badly affected and due to which it has been delayed or otherwise there was a planning that the bridge was expected to be operational by August and now were the traffic may be moving on the said bridge, however we will soon see a beautiful Arch bridge. The CE said. 

The chief engineer also thanked the local MLA Techi Kaso concern for the bridge and his almost daily visit to the bridge being the public importance and said that his concern is genuine and we are equally concern and hope that the work completed as per expectation and operationalised by October next. 

 “We have managed to achieved the target of joining of two arches which  was most difficult part of the project. After this decking and RCC slab will be taken up”. He said.

“The proposal to construct 1.5 Kilometer approach road to railway bridge between railway station-Lekhi will also be taken up if sufficient fund is received in timely . Once the approach road connecting helipad road with railway station road and vice-versa the traffic of Nirjuli-Lekhi-Railway station and helipad will directly go without going to National highway-415. Once the approach road is completed it will significantly ease traffic on NH 415 and will also help in construction of four lane highway,” he added.

As per information the 90 meter double lane steel arch bridge with RCC decking and cable suspender  having footpath on both side with a load capacity 70 R  and approach road toward helipad side but another feather added with another approach road toward Lekhi with additional cost and the earlier cost of  project cost of Rs. 20 crore and would be extended for the approach road which was announced in budget announcement of five crore.  Several chief engineers of PWD has given their service in construction of the said bridge in their tenure which include Katung Wahge and Atop Lego.
