The Covid vaccination drive for 18-44 years would not start as the consignment of vaccine not arrived: Alo Libang

ITANAGAR, APRIL 29: The vaccination for the aged group from 18 to 44 of age would not be possible from May 1 as Arunachal Pradesh has not received the required vaccination order from the manufacturer. Informed Health & Family Minister Alo Libang.

The Health Minister was speaking to press said that we have already placed an indent for 4.5 lakh vaccine to the manufacturer against the targeted population of 7 lakhs vaccine but The health department has not received any confirmation here from the vaccine manufacturer. He said.

Though there is no shortage of vaccines for the normal vaccination going on in the state for the priority section and people above 45 years and older who are in the priority group. We may also vaccinate those aged 18 and above but could not continue in masses like in the new vaccination programme. He said.

Libang said that it would not be possible for the vaccination drive from May 1 would not be possible as of now until the vaccination lot arrives in the state.

“We have to wait and the officers of department are trying to established contact with the Serum Institute of India, the manufacturers of Covishield vaccines, but no confirmation been arrived and few other state of the country also would not be able to launch the drive for 18 year to 44 years” Libang said.

The Chief Minister Pema Khandu and his office is also in touch with the chief executive officer of the institute

The vaccination drive for healthcare and frontline workers started on 17 January shall continue. Libang said.

However the registration will continue. He added.
