Security forces assure support to abduction-affected villages in Longding

Longding: Dekio Gumja, Superintendent of Police (SP) for Longding, along with DySP B. Tangjang and a Special Task Force (STF) team, conducted a comprehensive tour of the remote border villages of Wakka and Chop in Longding District. This visit followed the recent abduction of two individuals by an insurgent group in the Chop village.

During the visit to Chop village, SP Longding engaged with the village authority, Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members, and the families affected by the recent abduction. He reassured them of all possible support and efforts to enhance security in the village, emphasizing the commitment to safeguarding the community.

The tour also included a stop at Wakka village, where SP Longding inspected the Wakka Police Station and held discussions with local leaders, including the Zila Parishad Member (ZPM), the village Chief, and the Gaon Burah (GBS). Additionally, SP Longding visited the 44 Assam Rifles Unit stationed in Wakka, engaging in a detailed discussion about the security scenario in the Wakka circle.

The interactions and inspections signify a concerted effort by the law enforcement and security forces to address and mitigate the challenges posed by insurgent activities in these border areas.
