PASIGHAT, JUNE 27 ; The main road leading toward Siang district and Upper Siang district from East Siang has been cut off and blocked at several points on the stretch due to massive landslides triggered by heavy downpour.
As per information from locals sources a portion of road measuring around 15-20 meter on Pasighat-Pangin road leading toward Siang district at Lelek block point near 20 mile has been washed away due to heavy rainfall on Sunday afternoon. The sources informed that it could take several days to restore and repair. Several local people were struck on the stretch and the administration is taking all-out its effort to restore it as per sources.
Another source informed that the road from Pasighat-Pangin toward Upper Siang has also been blocked in several places due to massive landslides triggered by heavy downpour. Though machines were deployed but could not clear the slide due to darkness and the road remained blocked for hours together on Sunday afternoon.
It is expected that the road may be cleared by Monday morning but totally depends on the weather condition as mudslides are continuously falling from the hillside in several parts of the stretch. The workers attending the work were informed.
