Itanagar, Aug 1: Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Bamang Felix on Monday exhorted the senior state police officers to consider the entire length and breadth of the state as their work area and to refrain from seeking transfer and posting at their ‘area of choice’.
“We are all accountable for the development of the state because peace and order is a prerequisite for any development to take place,” he said while addressing the inauguration of the four-day Annual Conference of Superintendents of Police (SPs) and Commandants of AAPBn/IRBn, Arunachal Pradesh Police at DK Convention Hall here.
The Conference, themed ‘Building Professionalism Through Basic Policing’, intends to focus on core policing issues and bring out a dedicated, performance-oriented roadmap. Apart from the SPs and Commandants, it is being attended by officers of DySP rank and others through video conferencing.
Pointing out that the Arunachal Pradesh Police will be celebrating 50 years of its establishment this year, the Home Minister advised the officers to introspect on APP’s achievements and shortcomings and introduce changes wherever required.
Assuring all possible support from the state government for its welfare and development, he urged all to perform their duties with utmost sincerity and dedication.
Further urging the officers and officials of the Police Headquarters (PHQ) to be clear on its vision and approach, he advised them to “send proposals for development of infrastructures with proper justification and financial implications so that the same can be pursued without any setbacks”.
Regarding the growing concern over drug menace, the Home Minister informed that the proposal for the establishment of a state-of-the-art forensic science laboratory is being pursued so that the drug traffickers can be charge-sheeted with the backup of forensic evidence.
While expressing concern over the ‘illegal’ influx of outsiders into the state, Felix directed the cops to strictly check ILPs (Inner Line Permits) at all entry points to “ensure that there is a local guardian who can vouch for the entry and exit of such outsiders”.
He also called for the full-fledged implementation of CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems) and e-Office at the PHQ.
Among others, Advisor to the Home Minister, Nyamar Karbak and DGP Satish Golcha also spoke on the occasion.
