NTPC signs two MoA with VKVAPT toward infrastructure up-gradation under CSR fund

YUPIA, SEPT 28 : The national thermal power corporation (NTPC) Limited on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalayas Arunachal Pradesh Trust (VKVAPT) towards Infrastructural upgradation in Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalayas  Balijan and Kharsang. The total estimated assistance under their CSR initiative is to the tune of about Rs. 2.58 crores.

VKVAPT, Secretary Sujatha Nayak said that Vivekananda Kendra had started its man making-nation building work in Arunachal Pradesh as early as 1974-75 with a initiatives in the field of education. Today 41 VKVs, 2 KGBV schools and 1 VK College of Teacher Education comes under the ambit of VKVAPT. Besides, VKV Alumni Association is contributing its mite to the nurturing of Arunachal Pradesh as is VKIC Arunachal Pradesh chapter in the field of Culture, Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti in the field of Rural Development. As several VKVs are in need of renovation,  NTPC’s CSR assistance was a welcome initiative, she said.

NTPC Limited, Bhubaneswar, Incharge Eastern region-II, Regional Executive Director Partha Mazumder said that NTPC is no longer confined to thermal power generation but is well on its way to exploring and developing sustainable means of power generation.  Its CSR is not a mere ritual but a project with total involvement that believes in growth with a human face and pursuing people-centered development. Quoting Swami Vivekananda the Regional Executive Director Mazumder expressed his pleasure that NTPC is involved in strengthening of the VKV infrastructure as Vivekananda Kendra’s vision is inspired by Swami Vivekananda’s ideals.

Two MoA has been signed today one for upgrading the infrastructure for two schools which include Balijan and Kharsang amounting for Rs. 2.5 crore while second MoA is for providing computer laboratory and library amounting to Rs. 51 Lakhs. He added.

The NTPC who has its office at Bongaigaon in Assam is also caring the people of North East region through CSR and other means. He further said.

NTPC, Bongaigaon, Chief General Manager, Karunakar Das  said NTPC is one of the leading Public Sector Enterprise. While comprehensive Community Development initiative in the areas of primary education, community health, drinking water, sanitation, skill development, etc. is taken up by NTPC in the neighbourhood of its plants/projects and at a national level, it is also engaged in serving and empowering the differently-abled and economically weaker sections of the society.

Other officials present on the occasion were NTPC Limited, Bhubaneswar, General Manager (HR), ER – II, Rajnish Rastogi, officials and officers of VKV and AKVAPT. 

The MoA was signed by AGM (HR), NTPC, Bongaigaon Shashi Shekhar, and Kendra’s Prant Sangathak, Arunachal Pradesh,  Rupesh Mathur who is also Joint Secretary, VKVAPT. The agreement was Kendra’s upcoming facility, Vivekananda Kendra Centre for Human Excellence, Tigdo, Yupia.
