Minor Girl Rescued Within 24 Hours: Kurung Kumey Police and RPF Collaborate to Thwart Alleged Abduction

A potentially dire situation was averted as Kurung Kumey District Police, in collaboration with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and a vigilant citizen, successfully rescued a minor girl within a 24-hour timeframe after a live video surfaced on Facebook.

On the night of November 22nd at 2300hrs, Neelam Nega, SP (In-charge) of Kurung Kumey District, directed the Deputy Superintendent of Police to investigate a live video showing a minor girl traveling with an adult male from Naharlagun to Guwahati, sparking concerns of a possible kidnapping.

The swift response led to the detention of the accused, identified as 23-year-old Dilwar Hussain from Hojai District, Assam, by the RPF at Rangapara North, Sonitpur District.

Under the leadership of SI Tajing Jamoh, the Kurung Kumey police executed a prompt operation, rescuing the minor girl and taking custody of the accused by 1400hrs on the same day.

A case has been registered under IPC Section 363, and SI Tajing Jamoh will spearhead the ongoing investigation. The District Child Protection Unit has been notified, and the minor girl was safely returned to her parents following established legal protocols.
