Mama Natung gives a call to save wildlife, protect ecology

CHANGLANG, APRIL 10 ; The Environment & Forest, WRD, Sports & Youth Affairs  Minister Mama Natung has today launched the Air Gun surrender Abhiyaan at Changlang district headquarter organized by Changlang social forestry division at Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) campus here on Saturday morning. 

All total Seventeen air guns were surrendered on the day by the villagers.

Appreciating the support of the villagers for their concern over the protection of wildlife including birds and animals and support towards the Abhiyaan which is a initiative, Natung appealed the public to support the campaign for the greater interest of the state and also requested the PRI leaders to create awareness among the villagers to stop hunting on their personal levels. The officers and officials of the forest department will also went around the nearby villages to create such awareness in respective area including school, college, offices and other places. He said. 

It is alarming trend and we have to to understand the importance of animals & birds in human life. The extinction of wildlife animals will create ecological imbalance and food chain, which will have a grave impact on us, he said.

“Our state is blessed with huge wildlife cover in the entire region. The message need to spread the Abhiyaan to the grassroots levels before it’s too late to save Mother Nature and our existence,” he added.

Natung also appealed to the people for planting more plants and tree to protect  flora and fauna of the state and for a healthy living in a healthy environment.

The minister also inaugurated the temporary office of the executive engineer, WRD at Yatdam circle near here assured for a permanent office, he also laid  the foundation stone for the same today.

He said that every development and economic involvement activities in the state was put on halt due to the global pandemic, Corona Virus last year. We have been able to contained the spread of the virus in state and our state has been regognised for its best management. He said.

Meanwhile, APSLA Deputy Speaker Tesam Pongte while thanking the minister for his prompt response to the construction of WRD office at Changlang said that the people of the district have faced lots of problem due to its earlier office location at Bordumsa which is at considerable distance via Assam..

“with the opening of the WRD in headquarter much more developments in the district may be possible under the leadership of the Pema Khandu led government.,” he said.

Earlier, the Natung also inaugurated 10m indoor shooting range at GHSS, Changlang, district Futsal ground and accompanied Taba Tedir in the inauguration of eight classrooms & Science Laboratory at GHSS and Rangfrah guest house near here on the day.

Among others, Education minister Taba Tedir, Changlang Deputy commissioner Devansh Yadav, Advisor to PWD minister Phosum Khimhun, Advisor to Tourism minister Laisam Simai, Taliha MLA and APB&OCWWB Chairman Nyato Dukam, Bordumsa MLA S. Mosang  and others were present on the day.
