LM&CA Department celebrated national consumers day with theme “Consumer Protection in the era of E-Commerce and Digital Trade”

NAHARLAGUN, DEC 24 : The legal metrology and consumer affairs department here on Sunday has celebrated the National Consumer Day 2023 and interacted the locals and flagged of a consumer awareness vehicle which shall went around the entire capital complex to create about the rights of the consumer and duty to be performed.

LM&CA Asstt. Controller (Enforcement/Publicity) HQ informed that the Consumer Awareness Programme is the sole motto of the celebration with  NGOs, VCOs, Traders and general public regarding Consumer rights & duties, he elaborated about the Role of State/District Commission Non- Standard/Manipulation of weight & Measures, Quality standardization like ISI/hallmark/ISO ‘product imitation, Package commodities & MRP at the Conference Hall of the Controller LM&CA C-sector Naharlagun on 22nd to 24,h Dec. 2023 organised Consumer Awareness’ Programme.

In his keynote address the AC (LM&CA) Debia Tana said that the every Consumer Should be aware of. National Consumer Day is observed in India on December 24 annually to spread awareness among consumers about their rights and responsibilities. It is also meant to protect consumers from unfair trade practices. The Constitution passed the Consumer Protection Act, 1986. This Act was subsequently replaced by the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, and the scope was expanded to include more consumer-friendly practices. The Act guarantees six fundamental rights to consumers. Every consumer should know what these rights are : 1. Right To Be Informed, 2. Right To Safety, 3. Right To Choose, 4. Right To Be Heard, 5. Right To Seek Redressal, 6. Right To Consumer Education. And also gave details information about e- daakhil portal and consumer helpline to be availed by citizens through Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission in State and in National level. He said.

The National Consumer Day 2023 was also observed and celebrated on theme “Consumer Protection in the era of E-Commerce and Digital Trade”. He said.

The Mobile Van Campaign containing the message of Consumer Awareness was flagged off for Publicity and Propaganda in an around Itanagar Capital Complex with distributing Booklet / Leaflet for Consumer awareness’s is a part of the celebration. He added.

ACLM (HQ) Gamkhong Singpho also addressed on various consumer rights and their duties. A brief words of awareness was also given by  Rtd. ACLM K.P Tago, during the celebration.

Staffs and locals resident of the area were present on the occasion. 

Various Members along with Shrl Tarh Sonu, Inspector LMCA Itanagar and Shri Songio Toru D.A P.P and Deptt. officers and Officials were also attended the programme.
