Implement the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, in toto: Echolocation researcher

ITANAGAR, Jul 10: Echolocation researcher and thinker, Thomas Tajo has appealed to the state government to implement the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, in to the state.

Addressing media persons at the Press Club here on Sunday, he urged the state government to appoint a permanent commissioner for the persons with disabilities according to the Act for working independently for the welfare of the differently-abled persons of the state.
“There are many rights for the differently-abled persons under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, but the state government is yet to implement it,” he said while claiming the rights range from job reservation to exemptions in competitive examinations.
Besides the ruling BJP leaders, Tajo appealed to the political leaders from the opposition to raise their voices for the rights of differently-abled persons.

Meanwhile, one Mudang Yabyang asserted that she had submitted a representation to the Chief Secretary and Secretary of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission to implement the rights of the differently-abled persons.

“I have sought an exception from the job application fees, 5% relaxation in minimum cut-off marks for qualifying for any job, compensatory time of not less than 20 minutes per hour of the examination for PwD candidates, and a separate seating arrangement at various job examination centres preferably on the ground floor for the convenience of PwD candidates,” she said.
She further appealed to all the students’ organisations to support the cause of the PwDs so that no one is deprived of his or her rights.
