Shillong, Sept 10: Six prisoners, including recently arrested I Love You Talang and Ramesh Dkhar for murder of taxi drivers, escaped from Jowai jail on Saturday.
IG ( prisons) Jerry Marak confirmed the incident and said he is on the way to Jowai jail.
An official said others who escaped are Marsanki Tariang, Rikamenlang Lamare, Shidorki Dkhar and Lodestar Tang.
Earlier on June 22, negligence of the driver of an ambulance at Jowai prison had led to the escape of the convicted prisoner Shiningstar Pala.
Later, the driver was suspended.
However, after Pala visited his family, they handed him over to the police.
