Forest deptt appeal commuter to maintain precautionary measured while passing Bhalukpong-Tippi area due to elephant’s movement through corridor 

ITANAGAR, NOV 20 :  The forest department has issued a precautionary measures for the commuters travelling Via Bhalukpong & Tippi on BCT road in West Kameng district to remain alert in view of ambling of elephants and their migration/movement to different areas on regular intervals.

In an order the Range forest officer (RFO) Bhalukpong Forest Range said that ‘  in light of the current situation, it is evident that the ambling of elephant and their migration/movement to different area will be seen at regular intervals in critical elephant corridor”. The critical elephant corridor which include Dadzeeling area and the entire stretch of Doimara reserve forest and the BCT road between Bhalupong and Tippi in West Kameng district. It is requested to the committers and denizens of Bhalukpong and Tippi to take precautionary measures while crossing the critical elephant corridor. The order said.

If in case of any inconvenience, kindly halt or move the vehicle back at safer distance from the elephant crossing area and wait patiently until the elephant venture into the jungle completely. Do not honk or flash light towards the elephants. The Order said.

The forest department will not be held responsibility by the violators of the order in case of violation. The order said.

The monitoring team and team of forest officials can be reached in case of serious complication. Any illegalities or harming of elephants may attract penal provisions under wild life protection act. The RFP added.
