PASIGHAT, June 24: A total of 183 students from across the state with excellent performance in their X and XII, including Arun board examinations, were felicitated during an annual felicitation program held at the Agriculture University Auditorium here on Saturday.
The program was organized by the Adi Student Union (AdiSU). Among the toppers, four students were felicitated with certificates and laptops for scoring 96% in Class X and XII.
Gracing the occasion as the chief guest, Arunachal Pradesh State Legislative Assembly (APSLA) Speaker P.D. Sona encouraged the students to focus on their studies to excel in further academics, which will help them compete in any competitive examination.
“Education is the only means to achieve set goals. The life of students is white and black, and there is no alternative to hard work,” Sona said.
“You have to overcome all challenges with a positive mindset, and education is the only way to change these challenges,” he said.
Stressing the role of AdiSU and Adi Baane Kebang (ABK) in promoting the Adi community of the state, he appealed to them to bring the Shi-Yomi district at par with the rest of the Adi-inhabited districts in terms of developmental activities. Being a newly created district, the district is yet to receive many development activities, he added.
Meanwhile, advising the students to refrain from indulging in the consumption of drugs and other substances, the speaker assured to provide aid to AdiSU in the future for social causes.
Health & Family Welfare and SJETA Minister Alo Libang and Member of Parliament (MP) Lok Sabha East, Tapir Gao, also suggested that students maintain the legacy of elders who cleared prestigious examinations such as UPSC and APPSCCE.
“Your success entirely depends on your dedication and sincerity,” said Libang.
MLA Kaling Moying expressed his gratitude to the Union for holding a felicitation program, which provides a platform for the entire Adi community to interact with each other. He further shared his willingness to make the East Siang district an education hub of the state.
Expressing displeasure over the lack of parental guidance to their respective children, Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Arunachal University, Pasighat, Dr. Tomo Riba, appealed to parents to restrict their children from engaging in wrongdoings at home or outside.
“Parents should not just accept whatever their sons/daughters are doing,” said Riba.
On the other hand, ABK President Tadum Libang cautioned teachers and other government employees not to participate in politics and contract works. Shortly, ABK would carry out an inspection across the state to examine the involvement of teachers and government employees in politics, he added.
MLA Talem Tabo, Ninong Ering, East Siang Deputy Commissioner Taye Taggu, SP, and other senior officers from various departments, as well as social and public leaders of the area, were present on the occasion.
