DC Launches “Meri Maati Mera Desh” Campaign to Honor Freedom Fighters at Khela Village

Khela, August 9: In a solemn ceremony held at Khela Village, DC Tirap Hento Karga inaugurated the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign as a crucial part of the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The event saw the presence of SP Tirap Rahul Gupta, IPS, Zilla Parishad Members (ZPMs), and various other dignitaries.

The inauguration commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by Veer Nari Chasan Dada, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem. The “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign, launched to commemorate the sacrifices of the nation’s brave freedom fighters, was unveiled amidst an atmosphere of reverence.

DC Tirap Hento Karga detailed the campaign’s significance, sharing that it involves the collection of soil from Panchayats across the country. This soil will later be transported to New Delhi’s Kartavya Path, where it will be used to construct Azadika Mahotsav (AKAM) memorials and an “Amrit Vatika.” The campaign aims to pay tribute to the valorous martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation’s freedom.

The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Shilaphalakam, a plaque commemorating the supreme sacrifice of Martyr Hav Hangpan Dada. DC Karga expressed his deep respect for the martyrs and their contributions to the country’s independence struggle.

SP Tirap Rahul Gupta, IPS, emphasized the campaign’s objective of honoring the nation’s heroes. The event also witnessed the development of an “Amrit Vatika” at the site, where 150 saplings were planted around Amrit Sarovar, in collaboration with the District Forest Department.

The campaign will be carried forward by Gram Panchayat Committees (GPCs) at the village level, working closely with Gram Panchayat Members (GPMs) and Gram Panchayat Secretaries. Each village will erect an epitome plaque and establish an “Amrit Vatika” at a designated Sarovar site. The deadline for this initiative is set for August 15, 2023.

Additionally, GPCs will bring a “Kalas” of Soil/Mitti collected from their respective villages to the Block office between August 16th and 20th, 2023. Block Development Officers (BDOs) will gather these offerings and create Amrit Vatikas at selected locations.

As a culmination of the campaign, BDOs in collaboration with Zilla Parishad Chairpersons (ZPCs), ZPMs, and GPCs will nominate representatives from each Block to participate at the state and national levels. This will be in line with the schedule provided by the government.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from DPDO Hakresha Kri. Gratitude was expressed to DC Karga, SP Gupta, Veer Nari Chasan Dada, ZPMs, GPCs, and all attendees who contributed to making the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign launch a resounding success.
