Changlang police arrest Driver who ran away with owner’s vehicle

ITANAGAR, Feb 13: Changlang Police was able to arrest a driver, who ran away to Assam with his owner’s vehicle, said Changlang Superintendent of Police Mihin Gambo.

While talking to Arunachal News Live, Changlang Superintendent of Police Gambo informed that the driver was arrested on the basis of an FIR lodged in the Khimiyang Police Station of the district.

Gambo said, “On January 24, 2022, a written FIR was received from a complainant that his Bolero pick-up van, bearing registration no. AR 12-8713, was missing along with his driver namely Bikash Karmakar since January 18, 2022 evening from Khimiyang.”

“After receiving the FIR, a case was registered vide Khimiyang PS case No 01/22 u/s 379 IPC and an investigation was started by Sub-Inspector W Wangsa, the Officer-in-Charge of Khimiyang Police Station,” Superintendent of Police Gambo said.

After massive efforts, the Changlang Police team, led by Sub-Inspector W Wangsa with help of Assam Police, traced the accused driver, Bikash Karmakar (28) at Dikom area in Assam’s Dibrugarh on February 12 and recovered the stolen Bolero pick-up from his possession, Gambo said.

“The accused has been arrested and further investigation is on,” the SP said.

Police officer Gambo appealed to the vehicle owners and the citizens to take police verification and full-roof address of the workers including maid servant, driver, personal help and other staff, whom they engage, so that in any case of dispute action can be taken by the police.
