ITANAGAR, The Capital MLA Techi Kaso, Capital Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom and IMC Mayor along with few IMC Corporator visited the cremation and burial ground at Chimpu to take stock of present situation and participated in social service organised IMC Ward No-10 Corporator Yukar Yaro.
Speaking on the occasion, Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso said that I am trying to handover one of the most important places called ‘Cremation and burial ground’ to the administration specially to Itanagar municipal corporation (IMC) before it is completed in all respects. He said.
‘I have made a commitment to the public of Itanagar that I will give a good cremation and burial ground which has been a long felt demand for several years even in case there is another at Karsingsa’. He said.
I have invested around two crore to the cremation and burial ground upto this stage and still more to be done like retaining wall, protection wall, water and power supply and boundary. An estimate of around 5 crore has been sent to the government and hope that the present government led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu can do something for its approval and sanction in the greater interest of the public service. Kaso said.
The IMC Mayor and other officers have today inspected the project and they may also now take up the issue with the government for immediate completion of the cremation and burial ground. he said.
He urges the people who are coming for the last rite of their near and dear one not to construct a permanent structure or else one day there will be no place left for conducting the last rite for burial or cremation. He said.
The Chimpu burial and cremation ground has helped a lot during the Covid 19 pandemic where the last rites were conducted in large numbers, so it needs to be taken care of by the district administration, state government in the service of humanity. Kaso said.
He said the authority should immediately provide the design and drawing to the contractor so that few electronic machines can be installed properly in the upcoming structures. He said.
The Ward No-10 Corporator has organised a social service who has invited me, Mayor and others to take part and we all are here, we all have inspected the site and discussed the issue in length and hope everything is settled soon before handed over to the IMC/administration. Kaso added.
Capital DC Talo Potom said that a solar light post has been established and more power supply including a transformer is required and the power deptt has been asked to make necessary proposals for the same, water supply to the site is also under care and hope that it is also resolved. He emphasizes that the people visiting the cremation and burial ground should maintain cleanliness and hygiene so that others also follow. He emphasizes that a caretaker is immediately arranged for the area so that few necessary arrangements are being done during the last rite. He said.
He appeals to all those who are visiting for last rites for their near and dear ones not to create permanent structures to pave way for others and durability utilization. Potom added.
IMC Commissioner Likha Tejji, IMC Corporate Yukar Yaro, Lokam Anand and other officers and local leaders of the area and dozens of public of Ward No-10 were present in the social service.
