ITANAGAR AUG 7 : The Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) Mahila Morcha Arunachal Pradesh on Monday celebrated the national handloom day in befitting manner with theme ‘Vocal for local’ to promote the indigenous items in day today life.
The main function was organised at DK Convention centre was held in collaboration with BJP district capital unit with day long programme and activities including felicitation to women weavers and achievers on the occasion.
Lekang MLA Jummum Ete Deori and Lumla MLA Tsering Lhamu attended the function as chief guest and guest of honour respectively. Both the chief guest and guest of honur address the function and share their word of advice and wisdom to promote the local product specially the hand woven handloom produced by our local artesian and household women weavers as well as cottage industry and upgrade the economy of our family, state and country as well become aatma nirbhar.
Chief guest Jummum Ete Deori in her address said that the day is an important day for the women’s specially the womens who engaged in production of handloom and handicraft activities products.. The central and state government has sponsored several scheme for promotion of indigenous products and to create awareness on vocal for locals products which is need of hours. She said.
The ‘Swedesboro movement’ which was launched during the Mahatma Gandhiji and in 2015 the Prime Minister Narendra Modi started a initiative of vocal for local and it again gets momentum to encourage the artesian. We as tribal’s has also several day to day attachments which are directly and indirectly associated with day today life. She said.
26 major tribes of state wear different dress and attire like of ari chadar was mostly popular earlier but slowly it is being modified but the local clothes woven by hands were mostly used by out tribal lady but now several modified design add embroidery and technique have come up in market is also good but we should always promote and encourage the hand woven garments. We should always try o promote the local and indigenous traditional system and dress which has no side effect on health, society and life and also encourage the economy the local weavers. She said adding that our local artesian in our state should always try to use local products so that our tradition and culture remain intact. She added.
Referring the C20 meeting held recently at Namsai recently, the chief guest said that the guest come from across the country and abroad has purchased several local and traditional items which was produced by the locals is a sign of promotion and we should always look forward the same. Tempo.
guest of honour Lumla MLA Lhamu said that with the initiative the cottage industry has got lots of support but still lots to be done, we should use our own traditional dress continuously which would promote our aged old culture and tradition of tribal society.
She requested the local artesian to visit other parts of state and also try to learn the experience of artesian of other district and know about success story.
She ask to the weavers and local artesian avail the loan provided under various central and state sponsored schemes for promotion of various economic promotion activities and economic sustainability as well as aatama nirbhar. She said.
Women are getting independent these days but there are still lots to be done. She appeal the women’s folk to lead the family and attend public, political and development meeting and become competent and strong to serve the society.

Earlier an awareness rally was organised by the members of BJP Mahila Morcha to create awareness on handloom in the society.
