BJP Arunachal unit protests Rs. 200 crore recovery from Congress MP, demands investigation

ITANAGAR, DEC 9: The state BJP staged a protest on Saturday condemning the recovery of over Rs. 200 crore from Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu in Jharkhand. State BJP spokesperson Dominic Tadar demanded a thorough investigation and the arrest of all involved.

Addressing the media at Arunachal Press Club (APC), Tadar expressed outrage, calling the incident the highest-ever cash recovery from any political leader. He criticized the silence of top Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, despite Sahu’s close association with recent movements against corruption.

The Income Tax Department’s December 6th raid across Jharkhand, Orissa, and West Bengal targeted business groups associated with MP Dheeraj Sahu. The seized amount, exceeding Rs. 200 crore, may rise as counting is ongoing. Tadar emphasized the need for proper investigation and the arrest of those involved in unaccounted taxable income.

Tadar highlighted Sahu’s proximity to Rahul Gandhi, questioning the Congress leadership’s silence on the issue. He also mentioned the Prime Minister’s commitment to recovering funds from dishonest individuals and called for accountability from the Congress.

Accusing the INDI alliance of corruption, Tadar defended the investigating agencies and cited multiple instances of cash recovery against alliance leaders nationwide. The state BJP demands a thorough investigation into the case, including associated individuals and companies, Tadar added.
