Arunachal Taekwondo Association Postpones Grand Reception Program Due to Eye Conjunctivitis Outbreak

Naharlagun, August 01: In the wake of a viral Eye Conjunctivitis outbreak affecting 23 members, the Arunachal Taekwondo Association (ATA) has taken the responsible decision to postpone their grand reception program.

The ATA’s general secretary, Likha Robin, issued a statement urging parents and guardians of athletes to take necessary precautions during this period. Robin also appealed to all parents to defer all reception programs for the winners of the 6th National Cadet Kyorugi & Poomsae Taekwondo Championship’2023, which was held at the K.D. Singh Babu Indoor Stadium in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, from July 28th to 30th, 2023.

Despite the setback, the Arunachal Pradesh Taekwondo team showcased an outstanding performance in the championship, bagging an impressive haul of 6 Gold, 2 Silver, and 3 Bronze medals. The championship, organized by the Taekwondo Federation Of India and sponsored by the Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs, Govt. of India, saw a total of 24 participants representing Arunachal Pradesh.

The team was under the guidance of 2 head coaches, namely Ranjit Biswakarma and Suraj Ali, along with 1 assistant coach, Yube Doka, and manager Manti Karap. Remarkable performances by Amini Laa, Ter Dimin, Minam Tamuk, Tangu Tali, Tanang Bagang, Khali Richa, and Rakhe Sumpa earned them well-deserved Gold medals in different categories. Additionally, Tarh Nikam and the cadet boys poomsae team secured the Silver medal, while Papung Tajo, Kardu Kamun, and Choty Riram showcased their talent and clinched the Bronze medals.

Celebrating their achievements, the Arunachal Pradesh team was also honored with the title of “Best Disciplined Team” during the championship. Furthermore, Tanang Bagang, representing Arunachal Pradesh, stood out as the “Best Fighter” of the 6th National Cadet Taekwondo Championship.
