Aids and appliances distributed to 141 differently abled persons including students of Donyi Polo Mission School for the Hearing and Visually impaired

ITANAGAR, SEPT 9 : The Rama Krishna Mission Hospital (RKMH), Itanagar Secretary Swamiji Kripakarananda distributed aids and appliances to 141 no of differently abled persons  including the students of Donyi Polo Mission School for the Hearing and Visually impaired.

During the program various aids appliances like Digital Hearing Aids for hearing impaired persons,Android Tablet and Braille kits, Smartcane for the Visually impaired and Teaching Learning Materials for the children with Intellectual Impairment were distributed free of cost under ADIP Scheme from the end of the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities, Chennai. The team of NIEPMD, Chennai had earlier conducted the Assessment cum Diagnosis camp in this regard on the 9th and 10th April this year.

The RKMH Secretary lauded the noble role of DPM School, Chimpu for extending education, training and rehabilitation of the children with hearing, Visual and Intellectual Impairment in a constructive way so as to make the differently abled children lead a productive lives in society with self respect and dignity. The Swamiji stressed to provide all possible opportunities and facilities to the differently abled children to flourish their hidden abilities. He said that It’s a matter of proud that the passed out hearing & Visually impaired students from this school have been serving in Govt. jobs in various capacities and have been pursuing higher education. He thanks its founder Chairman and former Chief Minister Gegong Apang who gave a ray of hope in the life of such children with his noble deeds.

Dr. Okeng Apang , Vice Chairman, Donyi Polo Mission extended his thanks and gratitude to the team of NIEPMD for all their noble initiative for the cause of the differently able persons of the state in particular. He thanked the state government and the nodal Department of SJETA for all their support in strengthening the hands of school authority to extend a better service to the children with special needs.

NIEPMD, Chennai Camp Co-ordinator M.Hari gave a brief report about the programme and stated that Dr. Nachiketa Rout, Director, Dr.Santhosh Kanna, ADIP Nodal officer, Devandra Prasas, Co-Nodal Officier, NIEPMD has been planning to conduct screening / diognosis-cum-awareness camp in every district of A.P. in phased manner with the collaboration of Donyi Polo Mission School for the Hearing, Visually and intellectual impairement. DPM SHI/VI, Principal, H Sharma stressed the need of developing infrastructure of the school in terms of new class rooms and hostel blocks owing to the gradual increase of roll strength and appealed to Chief Minister to take initiation in the larger interest of the differently abled children of the state as the institution does not charge any fee or donation of any sort from the students.

School students from Asha Sacred school for special children also received Teaching Learning Materials and presented a cultural program which overwhelmed the audience along with the students of DPM SHI/VI
