68 students receive placements under DDU-GKY scheme

ITANAGAR, Jul 29: A total of  68 students, out of which 40 received tailoring training and 28 retail associate training got jobs  in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Tamil Nadu under (DDU-GKY) scheme.

A bus filled with trained students that had left for their job placement states was flagged off by State Mission Director cum Chief Executive Officer, Arunachal State Rural Livelihood Mission (ASRLM), S . Miji amidst huge gathering here at E sector Abotani colony Itanagar on Thursday.

Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) is a Youth Employment Scheme of Ministry of Rural Development,Government of India (MoRD) exclusively aimed to impart youth from rural and poor background between 18 and 35 years of age with skill training and providing them sustainable wage employment.

Speaking on the occasion, Director, ASRLM, S Miji congratulated all who had successfully completed the training and received job offer letters sealing their job placements in  Hyderabad, Tamil Nadu and Bangalore.

” We provide job-oriented training to youth in Tailoring, Automobile, Tourism, General Duty assistant (Medical), Hospitality, Baking and Fashion etc . DDU-GKY is exclusively aimed to provide sustainable livelihood to rural youth with poor backgrounds  between 18 and 35 years of age ,” he informed.

He said that 6 (PIA) project implementation agencies are in the state that impart training to youth  in skill trades under guidance of ASRLM and accordingly arrange placements after completion of their training.

” Even after their job placement , our team closely monitors and gives counseling to each student doing jobs in several cities. The DDU-GKY ensures minimum 70% job placement,” Miji further added.

A welcome song followed by handing over of job offer letters to 68 students and speeches by staffers of ASRLM marked the flag off program.
