6 model drug rehab centres to be set up across State: Alo Libang

ITANAGAR, 8 Apr: The government of Arunachal Pradesh has decided to convert the dedicated covid care centre (DCHC) Midpu into a drug rehabilitation centre including six model rehab centers. State government is paying full attention in the fight against the drug. Said Health & Family welfare Minister Alo Libang.

Talking to the media here on Friday health minister Alo Libang informed that the civil work for the converting DCHC into a drug rehab centre will start soon and that the government has provided funds for it.

“Six model rehab centres will be established across the state including at Midpu. These centres will be provided with modern facilities. It will not look like a jail and will have a homely atmosphere and be environmentally friendly,” said Libang. Further, he termed drug addiction as the biggest problem affecting the state. 

“Considering our low population, the ratio of drug abuse is very high in the state. Everyone should join hands together to fight drug abuse,” said the health minister.

The police department has waged war against the drug and they are also doing the work with several awareness programmes and legal action including arrest and seizure of drugs from various parts of state. he said.

We have a lot to do and we can win if all sections of society join hands together in the fight against the drug. The Health Minister added.
