5th junior boys national boxing championship-2023 from July 9-14 underway at Itanagar.373 highest boxers taking part in Itanagar.

ITANAGAR,  JULY 11 : The 5th junior boys national boxing championship-2023 underway here at Don Bosco College, Jullang, Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh. The championship was inaugurated by the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu along with host of other cabinet ministers, senior officers of state government and authority of sports and youths affairs department.

All total 373 boxers are  participating,104 coaches, 19 non technical officials, 44 referees and judges are taking part from all states and union territory and team of services from across the country are also participating

As per information the valedictory function which will held on July 14 will be attended by Union minister Earth Science Kiren Rijiju and others.

Today on July 11 Tuesday the matches are being played for Pre-quarter, while quarter final matches will be played on Wednesday, semi final matches on Thursday while final matches will be played on Friday July 14. 

The Boxing federation of India (BFI) officials, technical’s and referees are also here and guiding and monitoring the taking care of the games minutely and being held properly and smoothly. all necessary arrangements for players including footing and lodging are arranged smoothly and no complain has been received from any corner.

Today 104 bouts are being played. 11 players are playing from host Arunachal Pradesh.
All total 13 category of weight are being played weight from 42-46 to 80+kgs

Lenny D’ Gama, senior technical expert and a renowned person in the field of boxing in India said that “ it is a great honour that that the BFI is having its 5th edition in Arunachal Pradesh here at Itanagar and also Don Bosco College who have helped them in organizing the national event. All the necessary arrangement which include hospitality, flooding and lodging were also well managed. He said.

For the first time the event here at Itanagar and North East part of country witness the selection and examination for 1 star and 2 start referee judges examination and also having national technical examination and getting full cooperation from Arunachal amateur boxing association (AABA). There has been no complain received from any boxing team of country who are here and taking part in the championship. He said.

I understand the boxers are boxing show that there has been lots of potential among the youths who are our future and they may represent our country across the globe. Every boxers are playing equally and hope that they also take party in world boxing championship and become champion. I am very happy to see the arrangement made here and they managed volunteers and other officials and non technical provided by them to organise the championship. He said.

AABA Secretary general Teli Kahi speaking to media inform that “ the AABA has been engaged to make the programe successful without any difficulty and hindrances right form inaugural ceremony which was held on July 9 by the Chief Minister Pema Khandu, other Ministers and officers and officials of various department. Out team effort are engaged to ensure the championship passed off smoothly and successfully. He said.

The referee and judge examination of BFI is also being held and participants form across the country has come to attend the examination and all these activities ahs added to the beauty of the championship. He said.

He thanks the state government and department of sports and youths affairs to extending necessary support and also Don Bosco college authority for providing the premises and all local support. Teli Kahi added.

He further appeal the people of capital complex and sports lovers to witness the boxing game at DB College, Jullang form 11 AM morning to evening 7. 8 PM. He further said.
