3 days national seminar on IoT and IoT based application by APSCS & T begins

Itanagar, May 12: 03 Days National Seminar on IoT and IoT Based Application started today 12th May, 2022, at Arunachal Pradesh Science Centre, I.G. Park. The seminar is organized by Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science & Technology, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh and supported by ICPS Division, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi.

The programme was inaugurated by Chief Guest Ajay Chagti, Secretary, Science & Technology, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh in presence of Special Guest Taba Tath, Principal Rajiv Gandhi Govt. Polytechnic, Itanagar, CD Mungyak, Director cum Member Secretary, A.P. State Council for Science & Technology, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh,  Bamag Apo, Joint Director, A.P. State Council for Science & Technology, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh.

Expressing his happiness over the seminar on IoT and IoT based applications, Secretary Science & Technology said such a seminar would create awareness towards futuristic technologies and will help the people especially the students. He stressed on using artificial intelligence, robotics, machine learning, robotic technology, cloud computing as this has a huge potential for employment generation in this age of industry 04 revolution and elaborated how the Internet of things is capable of finding out the real time solution.

 He also exhorted the officials to think, what to do with Internet of Things for the people of Arunachal Pradesh and put a challenge in front of the officials and participants to come up with a smart IoT based application for the farmers of kiwi, orange, apple, cardamom etc. of Arunachal Pradesh so that they have easy access to the market for their produce. He also informed that connectivity is one of the major problems in the state and assured that it will be sorted out shortly and efforts are going on.

Director Mungyak during his introductory remark said, Today’s world is technology and market driven world where science & technology comes first then economics. The Internet of Things is going to drive new consumer and business behaviour that will demand increasingly intelligent industry solutions, which in turn, will drive trillions of dollars in opportunity for the IT industry and even more for the techno-crats and companies that take advantage of the IoT. He also highlighted the key aspects of Indian Government’s draft policy on IoT, 2015, pertaining to smart cities like Smart parking, Intelligent Transport System, Smart urban lighting, Waste management, Smart city maintenance, Tele-care, Citizen safety, Smart Grid, Smart Energy, Water Management etc.

Taba That, Principal, Rajiv Gandhi Polytechnic, Itanagar spoke about different applications of Internet of Things in day-to-day life and elaborated how this technology had made our life easier. He also cautioned about risks of dependency on smart IoT devices.

Resource person Dr. Swarnendu Kr. Chakraborty, Assistant Professor, CSE, NIT, Jote, talked about the “IoT application in the North East”, Dr. Deepak Gupta, Assistant Prof, CSE, NIT, Jote had expert talk on “Machine Learning”, Monssor Akthar, Scientist B’ NIC, Hailakandi, and  Surajit Phukan, Scientist ‘B’ NIC, Dibrugarh,  gave live demonstration of Real time River Management ‘Jal Taringini” EVM booth monitoring, with IoT based application and expert talk on applications of IoT.
